Wood that became stone—the grain is still there, readable, the tree still recognizable after millions of years.
Petrified wood forms when organic tissue is buried rapidly under sediment or volcanic ash, cutting off oxygen and slowing decay long enough for silica-rich groundwater to permeate the cell structure. Over millions of years, silica (SiO2) replaces the original woody material molecule by molecule, preserving the rings, grain, and bark texture in quartz. The result is structurally stone but visually still a tree. This palm stone is shaped and polished to a smooth oval that sits flat in the hand.
In the root and third-eye chakra tradition, petrified wood is associated with grounding and patience—qualities that seem native to something that has been in the process of becoming itself for tens of millions of years.
A palm stone for a desk, pocket, or collection—one of the few specimens that is both a mineral and a document.
