What it is — silica that grew through fibrous crocidolite, keeping the parallel fibers; light reflecting off them gives the moving “eye.” Mostly golden-brown; “red tiger eye” is heat-altered and “blue” (hawk’s eye) is the less-oxidized form. Mohs 7, durable for daily wear.
The lore — Roman soldiers carried tiger eye as a talisman of courage; it has long been the stone associated with steady nerve and focus.
