Green, cream, and rust-red interlock across the surface of this egg—a map of mineral deposition from a single stone.
Fancy jasper is an opaque microcrystalline quartz aggregate whose multicolor patterning reflects the variety of impurities trapped during its formation: iron oxides for reds and yellows, chlorite for greens, kaolin for whites and creams. It forms in sedimentary and metamorphic environments where silica-rich fluids deposit and consolidate over time. Mohs 6.5–7, fine-grained enough to accept a high polish. No two eggs carry the same color distribution.
Jasper was among the talisman stones of the ancient Mediterranean—worn by priests and warriors across cultures from the Egyptians to the Romans. In the chakra tradition its varieties are associated with the root and heart chakras and positioned as grounding stones well-suited to quiet, steady contemplative practice.
A tactile display piece or palm stone. The egg form sits naturally on a shelf and invites handling.
