Heavy in the hand, smooth and metallic against the skin—hematite announces its density before you look at it.
Hematite is iron oxide (Fe₂O₃), Mohs 5 to 6, with a characteristic metallic-to-submetallic luster and a distinctive red-brown streak—the same iron mineral that colors the red rocks of Sedona. In its polished bead form it appears silvery-grey with a mirror-like reflective surface; the red streak seen when ground to powder is how the mineral got its name, from the Greek haimatites, meaning “blood-like.” Found on every continent; major lapidary sources include Brazil, Australia, and South Africa. Note: “magnetic hematite” widely sold in the market is typically a reconstituted material (iron filings bonded with resin), not natural hematite.
Hematite beads were excavated from sites in ancient Babylon; the stone has been used for ornament and as a polishing medium for millennia. In the root chakra tradition it is associated with grounding and steadiness.
A heavy, bold bracelet built for the wrist that wants to feel the weight of the stone.
Every crystal is hand-picked for exceptional beauty, quality and energetic integrity, then vortex-charged in Sedona’s sacred energy. This process infuses each piece with a high-frequency presence, delivering a crystal experience that feels as powerful as it looks.
