Two naturally faceted quartz crystals, each doubly terminated, set in sterling silver—the geometry is the stone's own work.
Herkimer diamonds are doubly-terminated quartz crystals found in Cambrian-age dolostone in Herkimer County, New York. They are not diamonds—they are quartz, silicon dioxide, Mohs 7—but they grow to a natural double-termination within their host rock cavities, producing the pointed-at-both-ends form typically achieved only by cutting. Their exceptional clarity arises from the slow, unimpeded growth conditions within the dolomite matrix. Set here in solid .925 sterling silver. No other locality produces quartz crystals with this particular habit and clarity in comparable quantity.
The Mohawk people of Herkimer County called these crystals “Spirit Stones” and carried them as ceremonial objects. In the crown and third-eye chakra tradition, Herkimer diamonds are associated with clarity of perception and attunement.
Earrings for the collector who wants a specimen-quality stone in a wearable form—each pair is set with distinct natural crystals.
