Black glass scattered with white flowers—and both the glass and the flowers are geology, not craft.
Obsidian is rapidly cooled volcanic glass—a mineraloid that forms when felsic lava cools so quickly that crystals have no time to grow, leaving a uniform glassy matrix. The white patterns in snowflake obsidian are phenocrysts of cristobalite, a silica polymorph that nucleates within the glass as it begins to devitrify over time. Mohs hardness 5–5.5; the conchoidal fracture that makes obsidian edge-sharp in raw form is tamed by the tumbling process that produces these beads. Major sources include the American West, Mexico, and Iceland.
Obsidian has been used for cutting tools and ceremonial objects since the Lower Paleolithic—Mesoamerican, Andean, and North American cultures all worked it extensively. In the chakra tradition, snowflake obsidian is placed at the root and third-eye chakras, associated with grounding and the surfacing of what is hidden.
A bracelet with visible geological history—the snowflake pattern is different on every bead.
Every crystal is hand-picked for exceptional beauty, quality and energetic integrity, then vortex-charged in Sedona’s sacred energy. This process infuses each piece with a high-frequency presence, delivering a crystal experience that feels as powerful as it looks.
