Rose quartz is a massive variety of quartz whose pink color comes from microscopic fibrous inclusions — likely dumortierite — distributed through the silica lattice. The inclusions scatter light into the stone rather than letting it pass through cleanly, giving rose quartz its characteristically soft, milky pink rather than the clear transparency of amethyst or citrine. Mohs hardness 7 — scratch-resistant and well-suited to a pendant that will see regular wear. Set in .925 sterling silver. Primary sources include Brazil, Madagascar, and South Africa.

Beads of rose quartz have been excavated from Mesopotamian sites dating to approximately 7000 BCE, making it one of the longest-worked adornment stones on record. The Greeks and Romans attributed it to Aphrodite and Venus respectively. In the chakra tradition, rose quartz is the primary stone of the heart chakra.

Selenite is a crystalline form of gypsum (calcium sulfate dihydrate, CaSO&sub4;·2H&sub2;O), Mohs 2, with a distinctive fiber-optic luminescence and a silky, striated cleavage surface. It is one of the few minerals that is not itself piezoelectric yet is consistently used to reset the energy field of other stones in lapidary tradition. White sage (Salvia apiana) is native to the coastal sage scrub of Southern California and Baja; it has been burned as a purifying smoke in Indigenous North American ceremonies for documented centuries.
