Fluorite tumbled to a smooth finish—the color range inside a single stone can surprise you.
Fluorite is calcium fluoride (CaF²), one of the halide minerals, with a Mohs hardness of 4 and perfect cleavage in four directions—the octahedral fracture planes are sometimes visible as internal reflective surfaces even in a tumbled piece. Color in fluorite comes from trace impurities and structural defects rather than the base mineral chemistry, which is why a single specimen can carry green, purple, and colorless zones simultaneously. Major deposits come from China, Mexico, and the Illinois Fluorspar District, a significant US commercial source. Raw fluorite pieces are tumbled to round their edges while leaving the original form largely intact.
Fluorite takes its name from the Latin fluere—to flow—first named for its use as a smelting flux before its identity as a distinct mineral was established. In ancient China and Rome it was shaped as an ornamental stone, commonly mistaken for jade or amethyst. In tradition it is linked to all chakras.
A pocket stone or collection piece—compact, smooth, and worth turning over to catch the color variation from different angles.
Every crystal is hand-picked for exceptional beauty, quality and energetic integrity, then vortex-charged in Sedona’s sacred energy. This process infuses each piece with a high-frequency presence, delivering a crystal experience that feels as powerful as it looks.
