Rose quartz is a massive variety of quartz colored by microscopic fibrous inclusions of a pink mineral, most likely dumortierite, distributed through the silica lattice. The inclusions give rose quartz its signature diffuse, milky-pink rather than the clarity of other quartz varieties. This pendulum is cut to a point at the bottom and polished, hung on a chain for pendulum use. Quartz hardness Mohs 7 — the point will not abrade easily. Major sources include Brazil, Madagascar, and South Africa.

Rose quartz is among the oldest worked stones: beads from Mesopotamian sites date to approximately 7000 BCE, and the Assyrians, Greeks, Egyptians, and Romans all carved and wore it. In the chakra tradition, rose quartz is associated with the heart chakra. The pendulum form has a long history in reflective and dowsing practice.

Selenite is a crystalline form of gypsum (calcium sulfate dihydrate, CaSO&sub4;·2H&sub2;O), Mohs 2, with a distinctive fiber-optic luminescence and a silky, striated cleavage surface. It is one of the few minerals that is not itself piezoelectric yet is consistently used to reset the energy field of other stones in lapidary tradition. White sage (Salvia apiana) is native to the coastal sage scrub of Southern California and Baja; it has been burned as a purifying smoke in Indigenous North American ceremonies for documented centuries.
