A pale apple-green that reads as both rare and quiet—prehnite does not announce itself.
Prehnite is a calcium aluminum phyllosilicate (Ca2Al(AlSi3O10)(OH)2), typically forming as botryoidal masses or tabular crystals in cavities within basaltic and granitic rocks and along fault zones. Its apple-green color ranges from nearly colorless to a saturated grass-green, driven by trace iron content. This oval faceted stone is set in the Cranston setting in solid .925 sterling silver—a bezel that lets the stone's natural color read clearly.
Prehnite was the first mineral to be named after a person: Hendrick Von Prehn, a Dutch colonel and early mineral collector who brought specimens from South Africa to Europe in the 1770s. Major localities include South Africa, Australia, Mali, and parts of the United States. In the chakra tradition it is linked to the heart and solar plexus chakras.
A pendant for the collector who wants something uncommon in a setting that suits it.
