Blue-green and cold in the hand—the color of deep water held in crystal.
Aquamarine is the blue to blue-green gem variety of beryl (Be₃Al₂Si₆O₁₈), its color driven by iron in two oxidation states within the crystal structure—Fe²⁺ produces blue, and the Fe²⁺/Fe³⁺ ratio shifts the tone toward green. Mohs hardness 7.5–8. It is the traditional March birthstone. Roman sailors called it “aqua marina”—water of the sea—and carried it as a protective talisman against the ocean. Egyptian, Sumerian, Greek, and Hebrew cultures all documented the stone’s use in ornament and ceremony.
In the throat and heart chakra tradition, Aquamarine is associated with clear communication, deep listening, and intuitive awareness. It has been linked to spiritual practice across multiple cultures for millennia.
A pocket-ready tumbled stone in one of the world’s most historically documented gems.
