Vivid bands of yellow, orange, and black—a stone that reads like no other.
Despite the name, bumblebee jasper is not a true jasper. It is a sedimentary rock—a limestone—composed primarily of calcite, along with volcanic sulfur, realgar, and other minerals deposited in a volcanic fumarolic environment. The alternating bands of yellow, orange, and charcoal to black reflect distinct episodes of mineral deposition. Discovered in the 1990s in Java, Indonesia, it remains one of the more unusual collector stones on the market. Note: the mineral components in this stone include arsenic sulfide compounds; wash hands after handling and do not make elixirs.
Bumblebee jasper is a recent discovery with a short documented history in the collector trade. In the solar plexus and sacral chakra tradition it is associated with vitality, enthusiasm, and confident action.
A pocket-sized tumbled stone with a graphic, high-contrast pattern unlike anything else in the chalcedony family—because it isn't one.
