Sunstone is a feldspar (oligoclase or labradorite variety) with copper or hematite platelets that scatter light into a warm, sparkly sheen called aventurescence. Major deposits come from Oregon, India, and Norway; Oregon sunstone is one of the few gem materials found in gem-quality form in the continental United States. Citrine is iron-bearing quartz ranging from pale lemon to deep amber, formed through geological heat and widely used in ornamental work since antiquity. Orange calcite is calcium carbonate with iron oxide inclusions that push the normally white mineral into a vivid tangerine; Mohs hardness 3, softer than quartz-family stones.
