Ocean jasper is a spherulitic chalcedony found only along the tidal shoreline of northwestern Madagascar. Its defining feature—the circular orbicular patterning—forms when silica-rich solutions precipitate radially outward from nucleation points within the rock, building concentric mineral zones of varying composition and color. The flame form is carved and polished, the curved silhouette amplifying the stone's natural sense of motion. Colors vary from piece to piece: typical combinations include sea-green, cream, pink, and rust on a white or grey ground.

Selenite is a crystalline form of gypsum (calcium sulfate dihydrate, CaSO&sub4;·2H&sub2;O), Mohs 2, with a distinctive fiber-optic luminescence and a silky, striated cleavage surface. It is one of the few minerals that is not itself piezoelectric yet is consistently used to reset the energy field of other stones in lapidary tradition. White sage (Salvia apiana) is native to the coastal sage scrub of Southern California and Baja; it has been burned as a purifying smoke in Indigenous North American ceremonies for documented centuries.
