Sized and shaped for the hand—the flat oval that sits in the palm without effort.
Black Tourmaline (Schorl) is a boron silicate mineral in the Tourmaline group, Mohs 7–7.5. The palm stone form is polished flat on both faces and curved at the edges so it rests naturally in the closed hand—a lapidary shape designed for extended holding rather than display. The natural striations that run along Tourmaline's long axis are still visible on the polished surface. Major sources are Brazil, Pakistan, and Afghanistan.
Named for the Saxon mining village of Schorl, where the stone was documented in the 15th century, Schorl was later introduced to broader European trade by the Dutch East India Company. In metaphysical tradition it is connected to the root chakra and to grounding and protective practice.
An everyday carry stone—dense enough to feel substantial, smooth enough to use without thought.
