A raw-edged form of the ancient stone, mounted on a pin so it reads as both specimen and object.
Bloodstone is a dark green chalcedony—microcrystalline quartz—with red spotting caused by included iron oxide minerals, primarily hematite. Mohs 6.5–7. The form here preserves the natural exterior of the stone rather than tumbling it smooth: the surface texture is rough at the edges, contrasting with the polished flat face where the color pattern is most visible. The pin stand lifts it off the surface and turns it into a display piece.
Medieval Christian tradition understood Bloodstone as formed at the Crucifixion, where drops of blood fell on green jasper; it was carried as a devotional object throughout the Middle Ages. The Druids also worked with it in ceremonial settings. In metaphysical practice it is linked to the root and heart chakras and to renewal and grounded strength.
