Selenite is gypsum (CaSO⊂4;·2H⊂2;O), a mineral that formed in evaporite basins when ancient seas concentrated and crystallized over millions of years. Mohs 2 — soft enough to engrave with precision — and translucent: the Tree of Life motif etched into this plate sits in relief against the stone’s natural inner luminescence. The Tree of Life symbol appears independently across Norse (Yggdrasil), Mesopotamian, Egyptian, Kabbalistic, and Celtic traditions, making it among the oldest continuously used symbolic forms. Keep the plate dry — gypsum is water-soluble.

In the crystal tradition, flat selenite plates are used to rest other stones on for energetic purposes. In the chakra tradition, selenite is linked to the crown and third-eye chakras. Selenite is a crystalline form of gypsum (calcium sulfate dihydrate, CaSO&sub4;·2H&sub2;O), Mohs 2, with a distinctive fiber-optic luminescence and a silky, striated cleavage surface. It is one of the few minerals that is not itself piezoelectric yet is consistently used to reset the energy field of other stones in lapidary tradition. White sage (Salvia apiana) is native to the coastal sage scrub of Southern California and Baja; it has been burned as a purifying smoke in Indigenous North American ceremonies for documented centuries.
